Life Skills Mentoring

College Tribe provides year round mentoring for 3rd-8th grade Black boys residing in Wards 7 and 8. The mentors are African-American men who have received a college degree or have achieved a military rank of Staff Sergeant or higher. Participants are grouped in squads of 5 boys to three mentors and meet two Saturdays a month. Activities include educational and recreational field trips throughout the DC metro area and workshop discussions with the boys about issues that impact them. Mentors execute College Tribe’s “Becoming an Adult” curriculum, which focuses on character, scholarship and social emotional development.

STEAM Education

College Tribe provides twice weekly, after-school STEAM classes to 3rd-8th grade Black boys in select schools in Wards 7-8. Courses are designed and offered throughout the academic year to develop competencies in STEAM topics including Photography/Videography, Robotics, Graphic Design, Coding, Renewable Energy, and Music Composition.

STEAM Summer Camp

For 14 years, College Tribe has provided elementary and middle school students with a six-week summer program to strengthen their interest in Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math topics. The youth participate in daily STEAM activities and attend weekly educational field trips to STEAM-related businesses and programs. Our summer camp also provides Math and English tutoring to combat the "summer slide".

KNIGHTS Pack  Book Club

Our KNIGHTS (Kings Need Intellect Grit Happiness To Succeed) are 3rd grade Black boys living in Wards 7 and 8 who participate in a twice-weekly, after school Book Club where they receive free books weekly to stimulate their love for reading. The Club runs September - June and the youth receive a book shelf for their homes and can also access reading and math tutoring during Book Club sessions.
